Whitehorse Lake Family Campout

August 2006

We had a great turnout for our annual Troop 697 family campout. This year we went to Whitehorse Lake near Williams, a very beautiful spot. We spent the weekend fishing and exploring and hiking and eating and having a lot of fun!

Spencer and Nick help the raccoon patrol set up their tents
Travis and Michael are working on our lunch - taco salad in a bag - delicous!
It's too bad the parents in this troop don't know how to relax!

After lunch the families head down to the lake to fish

Chris fishes while his dad catches some zzzz's...
Mr. Kotsovolos works with the patrols on some team-building games

This is the spiderweb activity and the group has to pass each boy through the web without touching any of the ropes. The patrol who gets all of their members through in the fastest time wins the event.

The dinner crew starts on our treats for the evening - baked ziti, green salad, french bread, and fruit cobblers!

After dinner we enjoy skits and jokes by the patrols and we are all ready for our nice warm sleeping bags as the fire goes out.

And there's more fishing in the morning before breakfast!

Matt catches his breakfast - and that osprey is hoping Matt is going to throw it back so it can be his breakfast!
Breakfast is ready!

On Sunday morning we attended an interesting talk by the forest ranger about the animals who live in the area.
After we leave camp, we stop for a short hike and geocache hunt at Sycamore Falls
We're hunting for a geocache - and they found it!
Nick is definitely not afraid of heights
