Boy Scout Troop 697

Chandler, Arizona

Usery Mountain Campout

January 2002

What do you get when you mix 3 Boy Scout Troops and 4 Webelos Cub Scout Patrols and a bunch of great leaders and parents?? A TERRIFIC TIME!

This was our chance to show the Cub Scouts how much fun it is to be a Boy Scout! The day was filled with activities, from knife and ax skills, archery, hiking, knot tying, orienteering, great food, a great campfire and too much fun!

Some of us even snuck away and found a Geocache on top of Usery Mountain!

And our chance to show what great cooks we are! Troop 697 hosted dinner for all 80 Scouts - Spaghetti and meatballs, salad and garlic bread! And do our leaders know how to show off? Baked salmon, sauteed vegetables, salad, and garlic bread.

And after dinner - a Dutch oven cobbler contest and a campfire - complete with stories, jokes, and songs!

Tell a joke - get a marshmallow

After the closing ceremony on Sunday we packed up for home, taking with us memories of new friends and skills.
