New Scout Patrol Campout

April 2007

Usery Park Campout

Our annual campout for the Scouts that have just bridged into our troop. This year we went to Usery Park so we could enjoy the scenery, the heat, and a major dust storm!
It looks like the scouts are going to set up a tent that will fit everyone in the whole troop!
Ian and Matt teach some rope skills
Hey, Scouts, who wants to go on a nice flat hike??
Can I wear my special hiking hat??

We do!

I hear this troop only goes on flat hikes, that's why we joined this troop instead of that troop that took us up Superstition Mountain in a thunderstorm in the dark.

Destination: Wind Cave

Are we at Wind Cave yet?

I'm pretty sure we are at Wind Cave
How about this view! Definitely worth the hike!

Tyler, watch out for those cholla! Didn't your brother warn you about those?
We get back to camp just in time for -- a dust storm!!
Wake us up when dinner is ready!
James never gets tired after a hike.
And now it's time for the most important skill required to be a Boy Scout - the art of cobbler making!
Mr. Kotsovolos teaches the secrets of the perfect cobbler. To butter or not to butter...that is the question

Now comes the hardest part, waiting until they are done so we can eat them
We're hungry, is the cobbler done yet?
Kevin is working on some Scout stew
We'll play a few hands of Go Fish while we wait for our dinner to cook
While we eat dinner, we are treated to a beautiful sunset

The cobblers are done! Time for the cobbler tasting contest!
Sunday morning it's time to pack up our tents and get ready to leave
After breakfast, that is!
We are ready for camp site inspection, we cleaned up our site so well that even the birds won't find any crumbs here!

They weren't kidding!
