Spencer's Eagle Project

July 2008

Spencer worked with Humane Borders on his Eagle Project. Humane Borders is a nonprofit organization that maintains a network of water stations along Arizona's border to save lives. He built 30 water container holders to be donated to the group.
Spencer divided his workers into groups and taught each group how to do a part of the project. Mr. Kittredge was in charge of cutting the wood into perfectly-sized pieces

Mr. Meiers inspects each piece of wood before it proceeds to the cutting table.
Spencer teaches Mrs. Moreash which end of a hammer to use on the nail.
Mr. Vullo and Nico put the finished sections together to form the box which will hold the water barrels

Spencer carefully supervises his crew. That is not Jeffrey using a power drill!

Mr. Kittredge cutting more wood
Jeff, that's some fine hammering technique there!
This picture of Mr. Vullo enforcing correct hammering techniques has been deleted.
Better get that call, Jeff, it might be the president.
Mr. Kittredge, still busy at the saw..
The completed boxes go back to the painting station. Mrs. Kittredge gives them a coat with the power sprayer and then the rest of the crew hand paints them to perfection
And the award for cutest painting crew members goes to...
Joey and Natalie!

Sorry, Augie, it was a close contest...

Well, not that close.

Mrs. Kittredge demonstrating her painting prowess.
You missed a spot, Brandon!
Mr. Kittredge STILL cutting wood!
Mr. Vullo demonstrates his skill at constructing a perfectly square box form
Mr. Meiers and Mr. Vullo drill holes
The jig table Spencer built for the assembly crew, and Mr. Vullo still managed to make some of them crooked. Okay, maybe that was mine that was a little crooked...
And the last two boxes are painted and...
We're done!! Great job, everyone! We couldn't have done it without Spencer bossing us around.. I mean without Spencer's masterful leadership!!
