Secret Canyon Backpack Trip

November 2005

Our first backpack trip to Sedona and we couldn't have picked a better spot - but don't tell anyone where we went, it's a Secret Canyon!

Ian, Nicco, Nathan, Nick, Colin, Blazer, Connor, Mike, Mike, Tim, Julie, Marshall, Tim, Ryan, Colin, Pat, Debi.

The hike is beautiful and almost flat - we pass through red rocks and then drop into a canyon full of maples, cottonwoods, sycamores, and pine trees.

We set up camp - the boys plan to sleep in these outdoor shelters until they learn about the Indian ghosts that live in this canyon..
It's not all hard work around camp, this group knows how to relax!

Colin and Marshall cook up some lunch - looks like Top Ramen!

After lunch, the Scouts explore the canyon and finds lots of places to climb and explore.
(If the button doesn't work, disable your pop-up blocker - and don't forget to turn up the volume!)

Blaze and Nick climb up to the top of the cliff for some great views!

Colin discovers rare ancient pictographs left by the early settlers in this canyon..

Maybe these are secret passageways into the alien base..

We hike farther up the canyon, where Tim is almost crushed beneath a boulder loosened in an unexplained strange phenomenon... aliens??

Dinner time - let's see what everyone's cooking!

It looks like Ryan and his dad have got some big steaks there!

Chunky chicken soup - mmm, mmmm, good!
Chicken alfredo pasta for Mike and Julie!

Looks like some Mountain House spaghetti for Nathan and Connor.
Remind me not to eat off of Blaze's clean dishes..or borrow his socks!

Hmmm, I don't think those steaks
are quite done yet, Ryan..

After dinner the Scouts build a campfire and perform skits for all of us.

We all go to bed,,, but look! Tom and Ryan's steaks are finally done!

It looks like everyone made it through the night without any alien abductions!

We say goodbye to our new friends and to Secret Canyon - until next time!

We all enjoy some great Mexican food in Cottonwood at La Carreta!
