Reavis Ranch Backpack
November 2000
by Dillon Moreash
| It all started on Friday night. At first we went to our campsite in the Superstition Mountains. That night there was a vicious windstorm. We had to chase down our tents, luckily most of the boys got out of them just in time! |
| The adult leaders spent most of the night looking for Mr. Strauss, who somehow went to the trailhead instead of our campsite, but he deserves an award for driving that road in the dark! Meanwhile the boys were searching the desert for Canadian Kanuck squirrels. |

| On Saturday we hiked to Reavis Ranch. We ate lunch at Elisha Reavis' grave site to get enough energy to make it up a mile of switchbacks. |
| Okay, boys, we know Reavis Ranch is around here somewhere!! |
| We finally reached the ranch at night and found a great camp site by the creek. We think it was by the creek, it was dark so we weren't sure. The next day after breakfast we collected apples and explored the ranch. |
| After hiking for 20 minutes, we noticed one of Austin's boots was missing. We searched for it for almost an hour and then finally gave up. Austin didn't want to give up, knowing his Dad the Marine would find him suitable punishment. |

| Another great hike! We joined the Cliff Dwelling hikers at the trailhead for lunch and stories of our adventures. |
