Picacho Peak
January 2004
| Our annual Webelos Invitational Troop 697 Camporee -- held this year at Picacho Peak State Park. Troops 697 and 132 invited several Webelos dens to join us for a weekend of fun activities and old fashioned fun! But before the activities, a hearty breakfast by the campfire. |
| Spencer and Jeffrey working on completing their shelters for their Wilderness Survival merit badge. |
| Jeffrey, Brandon, Ian, and Brian M help the Webelos learn their fire starting skills.
| |
| Ouch! This is the cactus removal station where Scouts learn how to handle the little hazards of the desert. |
| Nick explains to Brandon and Matthew the correct way to build a shelter if they want Mrs. Moreash to sign off their blue card.
| Time to relax for the afternoon now that all the stations have been completed. It looks like Neal, Alex and Ian have this skill mastered.
| Scoutmaster Bill Hoddy “Where did I leave that phone number for Dominos Pizza?”
| Okay Scouts, your mission, if you accept it, is to find that phone number for Dominos Pizza. You better take your compass with you.
| Patrols getting ready for the big Patrol cook-off for dinner. |
| Patrols are jumping right into the cook-off contest. |
| |
| Everyone looks so puzzled, I guess they’ve never learned to cook anything other than Top Ramen noodles. |
| Now it’s the adults turn as Bill Hoddy demonstrates the proper way to survive on food found in the wilderness. |
| Since the dinners were a flop, we can’t mess up Dutch Oven cobbler, can we? |
| Brian and Steven assist the Patrols in preparing their cobbler, then they have to eat it (Andy, Brian, Steven, Forrest)
| Okay, Nick says it’s been a long day so he needs some shut eye. |
