April 2004

Our great spot by Point of Pines Lake on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, cool weather, beautiful scenery, and great fishing!

It was dark when we got to camp so we couldn't see all the bears. Here's John on his first camping trip with our troop! Goodnight, John!

After a chilly night (30 degrees) some homemade biscuits and gravy taste great!

And what's that the Vipers are making? Scrambled eggs and sausage? Tasty!

After a hearty breakfast by all, the fishermen started fishing and the hikers started hiking.

Who's ready for a 10 mile flat hike to the top of a mountain and a fire tower???

Climbing the fire tower, and what a view from the top!

Getting ready for our flag retirement ceremony, teaching Scout skills, a Scoutmaster's work is never done...

Lord of the Fish Heads

Let's get that fire going, we've got a lot of steaks to cook! And is it true that the Viper patrol is cooking Porterhouse steaks??? I hope they have some leftovers :)

Don't fill up on steak, I've got 21 fresh trout to cook!
The Spider Patrol is bringing steaks next time.
No more hot dogs for us!

We've got steaks too! Anybody got any leftovers? Luke is still hungry.

After dinner we retire three United States flags which were donated to our troop for retirement. The grommets are given for good luck to Mark Slade to send to Eagle Scout Matt Slade, who is serving in Afghanistan.

Banana boats cooked over the campfire, skits, songs, jokes and cheers...

Isskiddle-dee-oten-doten-bodo-skedaten-daten-wadatenchu!!!

We picked up 7 bags of trash around the lake - great job, Scouts! Now let's go eat some Mexican food at Chalo's!!
