Haunted Canyon

November 2002

Our November backpack took us to Haunted Canyon, where we spent the night with ghosts and spirits at Tony's Cabin in the Superstition Mountains. The fall weather was perfect for hiking and the leaves were all changing color.

We hiked in (without getting lost!) and set up camp. Jonny, Cody and Eran decided to sleep in the haunted cabin but luckily the younger scouts set up tents nearby so the older scouts had someplace to go if they got scared during the night.

Tony's Cabin

After we set up camp, the Scouts explore the area and start collecting wood for our evening campfire. We hope that's what they are collecting it for anyway.

The adult leaders relax around their camp site...

Who's watching those boys with the big sticks??

Dinner time.. Greg accidentally pours boiling water on Jonny's leg so they can work on first aid skills.

Bill Hoddy shares a recipe for Spam and Top Ramen.

Campfire! Marshmallows and ghost stories..now we know what those big sticks were for.

The next morning Mike and Deb hide a geocache near the cabin.

We eat breakfast and pack up. Everybody made it through the night, although I hear that Jonny saw ghosts in the cabin last night!
