From May 23rd through the 25th, Troop 697 attended the Spring Camporee at Sharp Creek. The theme was Medieval. A camporee is when several Boy Scout Troops go on a campout to compete for awards against one another in multiple activities. Here is all of us about to depart on our trip. "Goodbye Tempe! Hello, fun and excitement!" From left to right, our names are: Ryan, Jason, Cody, Jonny, Mike, Matt, Kyle, Dillon, Michael, and Brian.

Brrr! It was sure chilly in the moring up there. From left to right, this is Brian, Joe, and Michael eating breakfast that first morning. We had french toast and sausage.

Our first activity of the day was catapult building. We built the catapults by lashing wooden poles together, then we used our creation to launch a tennis ball. This is the Black Knights patrol with their catapult.

This was the first part of another fun activity, called Capture the Damsel. In this, we first had to lash together a ladder. We then used it to cross the "river," then to rescue "Henrietta the Damsel" from the tree.

This is when Henrietta is rescued by Matt of the Black Knight patrol. Hurrah!!!

This is of our two patrols: the Black Knights, and the White Knights. The Black Knights are on the right of the picture, while the White Knights are on the other side.

Another event was called Medieval First Aid. A "sword fight" was held, and the princess got a laceration. Here, the Black Knights stopped her bleeding, and are now carrying her to safety.

After saving the royal princess, the Black Knights proceeded to the King's Castle, where they helped in the kitchen. The cook was burned, and they helped ease his pain. Finally, they proceeded to the Royal Banquet. They entertained the King by dancing for him. Suddenly, the King began to choke, and a loyal scout helped him breathe again, thanks to the trusty Heimlich Manuever.

Ah, dinnertime. Isn't everyone starving after a long day of fun and games? We had hamburgers for dinner. These are three of the parent leaders. From left to right, they are: Dave, Mike, and Scott. Happy Cooking!
