Cycling Merit Badge

Spring 2007

The cycling merit badge is another difficult Eagle-required merit badge but it is lots of fun! We need to learn all about bike safety and maintenance and also complete 2 10-mile rides, 2 15-mile rides, 2 25-mile rides, and a 50-mile ride.

Our first 10-mile ride is a loop through south Tempe.

Going up and down the pedestrian bridge over the freeway was the only nonflat part of our ride - and the most fun!

We found a nice shady spot for a break

Mr. Kotsovolos goes over some bike safety rules with the Scouts.

Mr. Thompson must have missed that lecture on bike maintenance and tire safety!
