FACTS TO KNOW

Camp Geronimo Fact Sheet for Troop 697

We are going to Camp Geronimo the week of July 2-9. We will meet in the St James church parking lot on the morning of July 2. Time will be announced later. It is approximately a 2-hour ride to camp. We will be eating lunch at one of the fast food places in Payson, AZ (the favorite spot is Alfonso’s)

Make sure you have everything packed that you are supposed to have. Double check for any medicine (give it to your Scoutmaster or Health Officer). Triple check to make sure you have your medical form signed by your parents/guardians.

The cost for camp is $325. You will want to bring some extra money for trading post items, souvenirs, and to pay for some merit badge costs like leatherwork, woodcarving, Indian Lore, and basketry. (About $40 should be enough.)

Mail is delivered into camp once a day and a letter or postcard can take up to three days to get to camp. The letter from home can be one of the greatest cures for both homesickness and getting down to work. Because of the extra time and handling involved, please do not send mail or packages that have to be signed for. Our experience shows that many of these items are returned to sender instead of reaching your Scout. (It is recommended that your mail be sent no later than Tuesday for receipt before he leaves camp.) If you send a note on Saturday they should have mail the first day of classes at camp.
